American Association of Breast Care Professionals (AABCP)

AABCP Foundation, a national non-profit organization, provides through grants, gifts and donations financial  assistance for post mastectomy services for breast cancer survivors. AABCP also educates both survivors and medical professionals about much needed post mastectomy services while lobbying and advocating at the state and federal levels to ensure l benefits that will pay for these necessary services.

– Activities: 3 Baskets will be raffled as well as wine tasting of Cheeky Monkey, a unique NAPA wine developed exclusively for the AABCP Foundation; education about post mastectomy services and products; and AABCP BlogRadio will be broadcast live from the event.

American Cancer Society (ACS)

The American Cancer Society is the nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.

– Activities: A “Bra Pong” ping pong game; American Cancer Society Koozies + water will be available for a donation; other ACS promo items will be available. Information on early detection of breast cancer and services available to the community will be on hand.

Breast Health Collaborative of Texas

The Breast Health Collaborative of Texas is a state-wide initiative of over 270 members whose goal is to unite breast health advocates and providers to educate, advocate and leverage resources to improve access to care for all Texans.

 –Activities: Pink ballons will be available for Looking Up: In honor of and in memory of those touched by breast cancer.  The exhibit booth will have a life-sized Pink Ribbon Parade ribbon for signing. For a donation, we will have pink feather hair extensions and Breast Health Collaborative of Texas bracelets!

CanCare, Inc.

CanCare is a network of trained volunteers including cancer survivors and family caregivers of survivors who are matched by the same type of cancer and treatment to provide one-on-one long term emotional support for others facing a diagnosis of cancer.

D’Feet Breast Cancer, Inc.

D’Feet Breast Cancer, Inc. is a grassroots 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization to provide health services (free screening mammograms and free follow up care) to uninsured and underserved women in Galveston County ages 40-64 ant those at high risk for breast cancer since 2001. The program collaborates with the Galveston County Health District, UTMB Galveston, Mainland medical Center, Victory Breast Diagnostics & Woman’s Imaging Center and the Jesse Tree.

Harley’s Angels

Harley’s Angels Cruzin’ to Cure are women motorcycle riders and enthusiasts from Houston and surrounding areas, that raise money for breast cancer programs. 2012 marks their 10th anniversary. All funds raised by the Harley’s Angels stay in Houston and are donated to MD Anderson and Baylor’s breast cancer programs.

Lesbian Health Initiative of Houston, Inc. (LHI)

LHI of Houston eliminates barriers to healthcare, provides healthcare education, access and advocacy programs for and on behalf of LGBT identified women in the Greater Houston area. LHI funds and provides LGBT women with limited or no insurance free mammograms. LHI mammogram healthcare partners are The Rose and UT M.D. Anderson Cancer Center – mobile mammography.

–Activities: Fun and interactive booth that engages, educates and provides visitors the opportunity to change and/or save a life. There will be a chance for visitors to make or buy an item or a roulette wheel that will give them a chance at an item. This would include buying health fare mammograms or mammogram certificatesfor the LGBT women we serve.

Lester & Sue Smith Breast Center at Baylor College of Medicine

The mission of the center is to improve prevention, diagnosis and treatment of breast disease while providing top-tier education for future physicians and researchers.

– Activities: Popcorn, water, pins and bracelets will be available. There will also be handmade pink breast cancer awareness jewelry and an art project/game. A raffle will take place for various items. An education table will provide information about breast cancer and screening, and an oncologist and nurse will be present for questions.

Pink Phurree BCS Dragon Boat Team

Pink Phurree is Texas’ only all breast cancer dragon boat team. Our mission is to enable the breast cancer survivor to fully reclaim her life, mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally. Exercise has been clearly demonstrated to be the one thing that the survivor can do for herself to reduce her risk of recurrence.

Pink Ribbons Project

Using the arts, Pink Ribbons Project saves lives and improves the quality of life for those touched by breast cancer. Pink Ribbons Project Pink Power program provides funding for mammograms, diagnostic work-ups, biopsies, and other follow-up treatment for the medically underserved women in the Greater Houston area. Pink Ribbons Project also promotes breast health awareness in the community through programs like Pink Aware, a dance demonstration, Drink Pink! lemonade stands, Pink Planner and many more!
